Linda Sue McGrath
On July 8, 2001, this world suffered a great loss. On this day, unexpectedly, the Lord chose to take one of His most precious servants home. Though her family and friends grieve her loss, Heaven must be a bit brighter, because of Linda's presence.

Linda Sue Williams was born on January 8, 1961 in Rochester, NY to Friend and Beverly Haupt Williams. She grew up in the Rochester area and graduated from Churchville-Chili Central School in 1979. Linda's love of art prompted her to attend Roberts Wesleyan College to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education, which she did in 1983. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Brockport State College in 1987. In 1984 she married her soul-mate Michael A. McGrath. For seventeen years they built a life together based on love for God as well as each other and mutual respect. God blessed them with two wonderful children, Zachary and Caitlin, which were the light of their lives.

Those who knew Linda would all agree that she was one-of-a-kind; a real gem. There never was a more giving woman. Linda gave of her time, her resources, and herself. She had a gift for hospitality and always took the time to welcome and encourage anyone who came across her path.

The simple joy of hearing her say what a wonderful job you did decorating a room or completing a project was like an award. She acted like you really new what you were doing....at least you thought you did when she was with you. It was always a moment to be treasured. Having her call and want to get together with you brought an instant rush of pleasure and the expectation of a warm, relaxing time.

Hearing her say "no problem" to keeping your kids, providing a meal for a family in need, or leading a new committee for another church project were all evidences of her love. Nothing was ever a "big deal" to her and adding ten more places to her kitchen table was perfectly okay.

The Scriptures tell us in Matthew 5:16 " Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Linda's good works were evident to all. She was loving, kind, encouraging, cheerful, and giving. She thought of others much more than she thought of herself. Yet she was so humble, she could never see it. She always was "working on herself", trying to become a better a person.

Linda's life is an inspiration to us all. Her laughter still echoes in our minds and the very thought of her brings a smile to our lips. When I think of her entering Heaven, I can see Jesus waiting for her with open arms, giving her a strong embrace and with tears in His eyes telling her, "Well done, Linda, my good and faithful servant. You have been so faithful. Come share your Master's happiness!"
